IntraLase is an alternative method of creating the protective flap, which is the first part of the LASIK procedure, using a precision laser.
For over ten years standard mechanical methods have been used which have been proven to provide excellent outcomes. However, through IntraLase precision laser technology we can now offer you an alternative to the mechanical method.
IntraLase Procedure
IntraLase procedure - stage 1
1. Focus
The IntraLase laser is precisely focused to a point within the cornea, where thousands of microscopic bubbles are formed.
IntraLase procedure - stage 2
2. Flap Creation
IntraLase enables the surgeon to precisely design and control many aspects of the flap such as thickness, its circumference, and the angle of its edges, effectively tailoring the protective flap to the eye.
IntraLase procedure - stage 3
3. Flap Lift
The second part of the procedure is when the surgeon gently lifts the flap to allow for the excimer laser treatment. The procedure is complete when the protective flap is securely repositioned on its beveled edge.
The Benefits of IntraLase
*
IntraLase enables even faster healing and recovery rates than standard methods of the creation of the protective flap.
*
IntraLase can improve precision and visual results of LASIK, whether you choose to have a standard or Advanced CustomVue procedure.
*
IntraLase allows our surgeons to tailor the corneal flap for each individual patient, and each individual eye.
*
IntraLase is of particular benefit to patients with steep, flat or thin corneas, some of whom are not eligible for LASIK/LASEK surgery performed with a standard microkeratome.
*
In terms of medical procedures laser surgery has a complication rate of less than 1%. However these complications are further reduced by opting for the IntraLase precision laser procedure.
