Is pet health insurance worth the expense?

Yes to Pet Insurance

Hi, I think that Pet Insurance is a great idea. To do more research go to www.trupanionpetinsurance.com. I went there for research and eventually got my insurance through them! I had to pay upfront for the bill but when I filed my claim I got reimbursed within a week! I know that saving money in a bank account seems reasonable but at the same time, just to designate money for you pet can be difficult. I know from experience. But with the pet insurance they just charge me monthly, so I don't really notice.

Don't waste your money

I have had pet insurance for 10 years. I have 4 cats and been purchasing insurance from PetsHealth Care Plan. My oldest one had congestive heart failure in Feb of this year. He was in emergency care for 3 days at a cost of over $3K. I submitted his bill and was told they would not pay because it was a pre-existing condition. He had a heart murmur diagnosis 4 years ago and had never had a problem. But because of that they would not pay. I contested it and was denied again. Also denied were the medications for this. I have paid out thousands of dollars over the years to protect myself from just such a case. I would have been better off saving all the premiums in bank account over these years. I live in NY and will be putting in a claim with the NYS which oversees scams such as this. It has always been a struggle to get reimbursed for various issues with my other 3 cats from time to time. My recommendation is to save your money in a bank account, that's what I will be doing from now on.
